Gifts of property

At Charltons we can advise you on the implications of transferring your property to another person, in particular with regard to Nursing Home fees and tax.

Lasting Powers of Attorney

A Lasting Power of Attorney is a document which can be prepared by a person with capacity to appoint who they wish to make decisions on their behalf.
A Lasting Power of Attorney can deal with both your financial affairs and/or health and personal welfare issues.
A Lasting Power of Attorney needs to be registered with the Public Guardianship Office.
It is important that a Lasting Power of Attorney is completed before a person loses their capacity.
At Charltons we can advise you should you be considering a Lasting Power of Attorney and prepare the documents and register with the Public Guardianship Office.

Existing Enduring Powers of Attorny

When someone looses capacity an existing Enduring Power of Attorney needs to be registered with the Public Guardianship Office. At Charltons we can make the application on your behalf.

Making Court of Protection applications

When someone loses their capacity and did not complete an Enduring Power of Attorney (pre October 2007) or a Lasting Power of Attorney (post October 2007) an application may be needed to the Court of Protection to appoint a Deputy to deal with their financial affairs and/or welfare.
At Charltons we can assist you in any such application.
